A Journey to Identity After years of struggling with familial rejection and a lack of cultural identity, Junior Producer and photographer Paola Gomez consciously decided to reconnect with her roots. It was a journey of self-discovery, where the domestic racism she experienced from her stepmother would no longer hold power over her. Her first step was through the lens. The camera became a tool for healing and self-expression. During lockdown, she began a self-portrait project that helped her shift how she saw her body and reclaim her image. Today, the camera has evolved into an instrument for documentation. A Pathway Home Through Cultural Exploration is a documentary that delves into the richness of art and its deep connection to identity. In it, Paola invites Colombian immigrants and others from across the Hispanic diaspora to reflect on how dance, singing, and playing instruments at a raw and instinctive level have helped her and can help them find their way "home." The documentary will be screened at The Latin American House in London on October 12, 2025. It invites audiences to reconnect with their cultures and traditions through art. This film is for those who, like Paola, have wrestled with questions of cultural identity. Join her on this journey and discover how art can guide you back to yourself.
