Terms and Conditions 

When you accept an offer of a place, a contract is made between you and the University of St Mark & St John.

By accepting your place and enrolling, you agree to the terms below.

1. Conditions of Your Offer

  • Your offer may have special conditions.

  • These might be different from the general entry requirements listed in the University’s Prospectus.

2. Our Responsibility

The University is not responsible for:

  • Loss or damage to your property.

  • Computer viruses affecting your equipment.

  • Any other loss or damage linked to your application.

3. Changes to Courses

The University publishes the Prospectus early (usually by February).

Some course details might change before the academic year starts.

Changes could happen because of:

  • New government rules

  • Changes to staff

  • Updates to course content

  • Courses not being validated yet

The University can:

  • Change course content or delivery.

  • Cancel parts of a course.

  • Introduce new courses or modules.

4. If Your Course Changes or Is Cancelled

The University aims to run your chosen course.

If it has to be cancelled or changed:

  • We will try to offer you a similar course.

  • The University is not responsible for any loss or upset caused by changes.


5. Entry Qualifications

  • Your offer depends on you achieving the right qualifications.

  • If you do not meet these conditions, the University can cancel your offer.


6. University Rules

When you enrol, you agree to follow:

  • The University’s Regulations.

  • Rules about exams, coursework, and progression.

  • Rules for student conduct and behaviour.

  • Library and IT regulations.

  • Health and Safety rules.


  • You could be asked to leave the University if you break these rules.

  • You can read the full Regulations during enrolment or online on the University’s website.


7. How We Use Your Information

  • The University will use your personal information for administration.

  • Your data is handled under the Data Protection Act.

  • Some of your information will be sent to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This includes:

    • Your ethnic background.

    • Any disabilities you have.

  • HESA shares this information (in a safe, non-personal way) with:

    • Government departments (like BIS, DfE, WAG, etc.)

    • Research and funding organisations.

  • Important:

    • Your personal contact details are kept private.


    • Organisations cannot use your HESA record to contact you.


    • At the end of your studies, we will pass your contact details to a survey company for the National Student Survey (NSS). After the survey, your details will be deleted.


    • After graduation, you may be asked to complete another survey about your employment (the ‘Destination of Leavers from HE’ survey).

  • Your rights:

    • You can ask for a copy of the information held about you (a small fee applies).

    • If you have concerns, you can contact HESA:

8. Fees and Payments

  • You are responsible for knowing your course fees.

  • If a sponsor (such as an employer) does not pay your fees, you must pay them yourself.


9. If Part of the Contract Is Invalid

  • If any part of the Prospectus, Regulations, or these Terms is found to be invalid, the rest of the contract will still apply.
