Zanda is making Pour Your Heart Out, a filmed podcast with Old Street Records in London where listeners send in their problems, the team offers advice, and each episode gets a cocktail designed around the theme.
@Zanda Sey has just done his final presentation for the MA in Creative Practice and is now developing Pour Your Heart Out, a filmed podcast made in collaboration with Old Street Records in London.
The idea is simple and full of personality. People send in their problems, Zanda and the team read them out, offer advice, and design a cocktail inspired by the theme. It is part agony aunt, part night out!
Pour Your Heart Out
The podcast is already starting to feel more real.
“When we first filmed it, we had to buy the alcohol and take it there ourselves,” Zanda says. “Now it seems like they’re letting us have the alcohol, which kind of blows my mind. It feels like they understand the show and they’re helping us make it happen.”
That support from Old Street Records has given the project a real lift. Zanda is now focusing on getting the podcast in front of more people and building a small audience who enjoy watching them do ridiculous things with commitment.
Living with Levi
Alongside the podcast, Zanda has also submitted Living with Levi, a retro horror short, to six film festivals.
Now comes the waiting part. Hearing back from festivals is always nerve-wracking, but the film is out there and starting to make its way into the world. It is another sign that Zanda’s work is moving beyond the idea stage and into spaces where people can actually encounter it.
Taking Action
What helped Zanda move forward was thinking about all the days when nothing had changed.
“I kept thinking how late it would be if I woke up tomorrow and nothing was different,” Zanda says. “I’d had so many days like that, and a lot of it was because of my own inaction.”
Seeing even small actions as progress has made a difference: Sending the email, making the ask, submitting the film or sorting the next shoot all help the work move on.
What Comes Next
Over the next few months, Zanda wants to get Pour Your Heart Out and Living with Levi in front of as many people as possible!
For the podcast, that means growing an audience who enjoy the humour, the advice and the cocktails. For Living with Levi, it means waiting to hear back from festivals and looking for more chances to share the film.
